Almería gives us signs from the past in the Los Letreros Cave, as well as in its starry skies, in the staggering Pulpí geode, in the fabulous seabed of Cabo de Gata, and in the Hollywood-inspired theme park Oasys… The extraordinary Muertos beach offers another warning.
Don’t visit Almería or it will be your undoing.
ALMERÍA WILL
ASTOUND YOU
Don’t walk the gardens of the magical Alhambra. Don’t even think about skiing in the Sierra Nevada in the morning and strolling through El Albaicín as the sun sets. Don’t explore the Sacromonte Caves, or for its archaeological sites in the west. Don’t ask about the poet Lorca or you will forever lose your mind.
Starting in Granada would be madness.
GRANADA WILL
GRIND YOU DOWN
The vertigo you feel at the Ronda bridge? You’ll feel the same way at the Picasso Museum. Avoid the city’s other museums, too. Don’t step on the beaches of the Costa del Sol. Don’t listen to people talking about the Valle del Gualahorce, or the Caminito del Rey.
There can be no doubt: Málaga is full of dangers.
MÁLAGA WILL
MOVE YOU
No matter how much you read about it, no one is ready for Jaén. Even if you know that Úbeda and Baeza are UNESCO World Heritage sites, you can’t help falling love with them. These two jewels shine like olive oil, the exquisite essence of Mediterranean cuisine.
Acre upon acre of olive trees are whispering — don’t come to Jaén because it’ll haunt you.
JAÉN WILL
HAUNT YOU
Your heart is not strong enough to visit the Real Alcazar, the incredible Cathedral or the famous Plaza de España in its capital without suffering serious consequences. Guard your soul from the Triana neighborhood and the house where the immortal painter Velázquez was born. Run away from the fertile lowlands of the Guadalquivir and its Sierra Norte. We’re telling you for your own good.
Seville is a bad idea.
SEVILLE WILL
SEDUCE YOU
The beaches of Cádiz are just as wild as the mythical horses of the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. If you go, you’ll lose yourself in them. Only a fool would recommend you beaches like Tarifa or Caños de Meca. We won’t tell you to try the tortillitas de camarón.
No way you should visit Cádiz.
CÁDIZ WILL
SHAKE YOU
The voyage that changed the world forever started right here. That should be reason enough to stay away from its unrivalled beauties: the enormous Doñana National Park, exquisite Jabugo ham, and towns that are a hidden treasure, like Niebla.
Stay where you are because Huelva is addictive.
HUELVA WILL
WOUND YOU
Are you willing to never feel like yourself again after visiting a place? That’s why you should stay away from Córdoba and its Mosque, from its Jewish quarter and Medina Azahara. Don’t let its famous courtyards bewitch you. Avoid its countryside, its wine from Montilla. And no matter how much you’re tempted, don’t try its salmorejo, or nothing will ever taste the same again.
Be careful with Cordoba.
